Protecting & Cleansing our energy

During our everyday lives it is only natural that we are absorbing the environment around us, especially the emotions of others. Many of us have experienced our energy being drained and a feeling of heaviness that we just cannot shift.


By protecting and cleansing our energy on a regular basis we are able to help minimise the effect this has on us and clear it away which plays a very important part in our health and wellbeing.


My hope is that, by sharing some of these tips that work for me, it can help you to feel more in balance with your body, mind and spirit. You may like to add them to what you are already doing.


So let’s explore some of the ways that support me with protecting my energy.


The starting point for me was definitely creating those healthy boundaries that I talked a little bit about in one of my Mindful Musings on the Full Moon in Virgo Youtube Channel.



I also like to consider the types of environments I am exposing myself to. For example limiting my time in shopping centre or crowded spaces. Choosing to shop early before it gets to busy helps me to feel calm which makes the whole experience more enjoyable.


One of my everyday favourite things to do is picking the crystal pendant and eye rings to wear for the day. Anyone that knows me will tell you that I love anything that sparkles. Having this connection with the healing qualities of these amazing gems gives me comfort and a sense of security.


The crystals that have protective qualities and that resonate for me are Black Tourmaline, Amethyst and Rose Quartz, just to name a few.




When I need something quick and simple, but by know means less effective, I visualise, or just sense a beautiful bubble of light surrounding me, and those energies bounce right off. It is a fantastic tool to have in your back pocket.


Protecting ourselves is one piece of a two part self care practise. The other piece is cleansing and restoring our energy.


For me water has always symbolised cleansing. I may take a bath with some epsom salts in, or a shower while visualising that yucky energy I picked up during my day been washed away and swirling down the drain. It can be as easy as washing my hands frequently,  because everything we touch holds energy.


Taking a walk near a pond or a lake always clears my mind, refreshes my mood and brings me back to the present moment.



Nature is the ultimate remedy for reconnecting with our energy.


When my energy feels really stuck I love to dance, shake and shimmy. Movement is good for resetting our nervous system. By releasing that negative energy we heal our body, mind and spirit.


If I’m in a more gentle mood I will roll out my mat for some yin yoga or a quiet guided meditation.


There are many ways for us to protect and cleanse our energy and I have only touch on a few that stand out to me. So explore and get creative.


What may work for one person may not work for another. This is a very unique experience for all of us.
